BATIMATEC 2026 – the International Exhibition for Building, Construction Materials and Public Works – is the most representative trade fair event on the African continent entirely dedicated to the wide-ranging supply chain of construction processes and technologies.
Within the construction sector, the natural stone industry has long been at the center of attention of Algerian government authorities, which have identified a significant need for technology and know-how to support the growth of the country’s industry in this field.
According to data processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Research Center, in 2025 Algeria once again confirmed its role as a processing country and an attractive market for raw stone products, imported from Italy for a total value of over €8 million, making it the tenth-largest global buyer of this “Made in Italy” product category.
Including Algerian imports of “Processed and Semi-Processed” stone products—amounting to €2.5 million—and Italian “Machinery and Technologies” for the extraction and processing of natural stone—equal to €4.7 million—the total value of Algerian imports of supply chain products from Italy exceeded €15 million in 2025.
