From June 3 to 5, CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE will take part in the first edition of STONE.GAL, a new Spanish trade event dedicated to the natural stone sector and related technologies, to be held in Vigo (Galicia) at IFEVI, the city’s Exhibition and Congress Centre.

The city of Vigo is located just fifteen minutes from Porriño, home to Spain’s most important granite quarries, and only 45 minutes from the Portuguese quarrying area. It is also just two hours away from the Valdeorras slate basin.
As for exports, Spain remains a key market for Italy’s stone technology industry. According to figures processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center, in 2024 Spain ranked fourth among the top destination markets by value for Italian-made machines and equipment for natural stone processing, with total imports exceeding 53 million euros.
Also notable is the trend in Italian raw stone exports, which in 2024 grew by +81.2% compared to 2023, reaching a total of 7 million euros. Spanish imports of finished and semi-finished stone products from Italy also surpassed 11 million euros, bringing total imports of stone materials from Italy to 18 million euros.
It is worth noting that, driven by increased household consumption (+3.8%), greater investment (+3.2%), a fully recovered tourism sector, and a sharp rise in employment, Spain’s GDP grew by 3.2% in 2024, a figure officially confirmed by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to detailed data on Spain’s economic performance, this significant GDP growth was especially supported by domestic demand, while investment growth was particularly driven by the construction sector (+4.1%).
