Confindustria Marmomacchine participates in the G20 Business Summit

Confindustria Marmomacchine, represented by President Marco De Angelis, is participating in the work of the B20, the most authoritative of the Engagement Groups instituted by the G20. Reserved to businesses and their representative associations, this year the B20 is being held under the leadership of Confindustria, in the front line in support for the Italian Presidency of the G20. And in fact, chairing the work is Emma Marcegaglia, appointed by Confindustria President Carlo Bonomi to guide the B20, coordinate its work and draft the business world’s proposals to political leaders.

This 2021 edition is especially important, held while the world’s economies are having to deal with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and with the changes expected on the international chessboard, changes that could attenuate geopolitical tensions. Objectives that inspired this edition’s claim: “Redesign the future: include, share, act”. In fact, according to the business world, 2021 should be the year that commences a social, economic and environmental regeneration worldwide, a process that will give strong impetus to economic growth.

Participating in the B20, created to formulate policy recommendations for various strategic sectors addressed to the acting Presidency, are 1,000 business-owning delegates from G20 countries, heads of multinationals and 3,000 overall participants representing a business community with more than 6.5 million companies. In addition to the Inception Meeting held on January 21-22 and inaugurated by Confindustria President Carlo Bonomi, President De Angelis will participate in B20 work as a member of the Trade & Investment task force headed by Barbara Beltrame, Confindustria vice-president in charge of internationalization. In fact, the whole process works through 8 task forces coordinated by Chair Emma Marcegaglia and led by the CEOs of leading Italian companies: Trade & Investment (Barbara Beltrame); Energy & Resource Efficiency (Francesco Storace); Integrity & Compliance (Patrizia Grieco); Employment & Education (Gianpietro Benedetti); Digital Transformation (Maximo Ibarra): Finance & Infrastructures (Carlo Messina); Health & Life Sciences (Sergio Dompé); Sustainability & Global Emergencies (Claudio Descalzi).

The Inception Meeting was divided into two parts. On the first day, January 21, the public event was held online. Then there were two in-depth examination sessions, taking part in which were outstanding representatives of the political and institutional world and managing directors of top businesses like Larry Fink, Blackrock CEO and Michael R. Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg. The second day, a closed-door session, featured the work of the task forces and presentation of the “B20 Women’s Empowerment Ambassador” project valorizing the role of women, in continuity with the Saudi 2020 B20 that had made this a priority.
