November 29-20 were the dates at the Hilton Garden Inn in Casablanca, Morocco, for a technological seminar on natural stone quarrying and processing machines organized by ICE-Agency in collaboration with the Italian trade association CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE in the context of promotional work for the Italian techno-stone sector.
Partners for the seminar were the Moroccan stone association (AMM) and the Technological Center for Building Materials (CETEMCO).
The seminars focused on topics like extraction technology; multi-wire cutting technologies; products and technologies for stone surface treatment; the recycling and reuse of discards and work mud. In addition to the seminars there were interesting B2B meetings.
Morocco is a growing “emergent-neighbor” country and market both for its economic fundamentals (average age 25.8 years, annual GDP growth of 3.3% in projections for 2023/24) and for its stone-working sector: in 2022 its imports of Italian equipment for processing ornamental stones were worth more than 6.3 million euros, up 10.3% from 2021.
In fact, the Moroccan stone association (AMM) expressed the clear interest of its companies in stone technologies Made in Italy. The seminar context was considered an excellent opportunity for Italian stone companies to develop relations with local enterprises and present their solutions to the technical problems of Moroccan stone companies.
