“Marble. Carving the Future”: the first led inaugurated in Algiers

On May 9 the Algiers Cultural Center hosted the inauguration of the first leg of the “Marble. Carving the Future” tour, an unusual integrated promotion project for the Italian stone industry based on dialogue between art, technique and enterprise. The project is promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) in collaboration with ICE-Agency and CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE and will travel to several world capitals over the next two years.

The next stop after Algiers will be the Dupont Underground Art Center in Washington D.C. from September 1 to October 8. Curated and produced by Magister Art, “Marble. Carving the Future” is part of the Italian Foreign Affairs Ministry’s new integrated promotion strategy aimed at recounting and promoting the wealth of knowledge and traditions in Italy and the Made in Italy, highlighting their constant propension for research and innovation.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were the Italian ambassador to Algeria, Giovanni Pugliese, the president of CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE, Federico Fraccaroli; the association’s Honorary President in charge of official relations, Flavio Marabelli; and the Creative Director of Magister Art, Alessandra Costantini.

The exhibit gives the international public an unusual and stimulating audio-visual experience aimed at valorizing the profound interconnections between culture, territory, creativity and quality that distinguish Italian stone-working. Multimedia installations and a virtual dialogue between contemporary manufactures and the works of Michelangelo, Bernini and Canova guide the visitor through the creative process, ancient and modern.
