Coronavirus: Note from the president of CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE

The president of CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE, Marco De Angelis, in full accord with the association’s board, strongly supports the message sent to the government and media by Confindustria – ABI – Coldiretti – Confagricoltura – Confapi – Legacoop – Rete Imprese Italia – CGIL – CSIL – UIL.

The Italian sector of authentically natural stones and the machinery and equipment to work them reiterates – as stated in the aforesaid communication sent by Confindustria, the Italian Banking Association, enterprise associations and the labor unions – “the need to evaluate the situation with equilibrium to proceed to rapid normalization, making it possible to recommence all the activities currently blocked and enable companies and employees in all territories to work profitably and safely for the benefit of the country, avoiding spreading through the media an image and perception, especially among international partners, that could lastingly damage our Made in Italy”.

For a globalized sector like the Italian stone/techno-stone industry, a prolonged state of “quarantine” of the entire country from the rest of the world could only have dramatic repercussions for the entire sector, which is already affected by the global slowdown and with this emergency risks seeing many of its companies in great difficulty already in the coming weeks in the absence of re-established relations of confidence with international partners, to which more balanced and realistic official communication could undoubtedly immediately contribute.

Finally, the association wants to send a message of confidence in an immediate recommencement of sector trade, as of now confirming its participation in the Xiamen Stone Fair 2020 (next June 6 to 9), where it will head an important collective exhibit of the Made in Italy”.
