On February 17 a webinar was held, organized by Confindustria Marmomacchine in collaboration with ENEA (the Italian agency for new technologies, energy and the environment), to present the “ARCADIA project: the lifecycle approach in public contracts and Italian LCA databanks for the efficient use of resources”.
The project, which ENEA developed and coordinated, began in 2019 for the purpose of strengthening public administration skills in integrating Life Cycle Assessments into tenders for public contracts and green purchases. The creation of the Italian LCA databank, implemented for 15 Italian industries within the project, offers strategic support for the circular economy in the production context, fosters ecological innovation and promotes the adoption of LCA methods in public administration, companies, trade associations, universities, research institutes and the services sector.
One of the sectors of strategic interest in which the project is developing specific work is that of ornamental stones and the webinar on February 17 was held to help ornamental stone sector companies get involved in the Arcadia project as well as explain the Life Cycle Assessment and relative data gathering. The meeting was introduced by Confindustria Marmomacchine Secretary General, Raimondo Lovati, and the speakers were Caterina Rinaldi, coordinator of the Arcadia project, and Marilisa Cellurale, referral for the industry study, both of whom belong to ENEA’s Productive and Territorial System Sustainability Department.
