2024 CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE General Assembly: Gianluca Pellegrino elected the new president of the Italian stone/techno-stone industry’s reference association

Confirmed again this year as an event of verification and strategic programing for the Italian natural stone and stone technology sector, the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE General Assembly – held on June 28 in Milan – was attended by more than 190 delegates composed of businesspeople from all over Italy and representatives of the principal governmental and business organizations. Turnover at the top of the association: Gianluca Pellegrino (Basaltina) was elected the new CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE president for the 2024/2026 term.

The core of the meeting was the technical-economic report from Honorary President in charge of official relations, Flavio Marabelli, who described the sector’s trends and the association’s numerous projects in support of its companies. Overall, with more than 3,200 companies and 34,000 employees, revenue of 4.5 billion euros, a heavy propension to export (71.2% of production) and above all an annual trade surplus of more than 2.7 billion, the Italian stone/techno-stone industry was confirmed again in 2023 as one of the most propulsive and excellent sectors of manufacturing Made in Italy.

As stated, during the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE General Assembly there was also election of the new president for the next two years. In fact, concluding the electoral process taking place in recent months, the members’ assembly chose as new president to guide the association for 2024-2026 Gianluca Pellegrino, director of BASALTINA S.r.l. – a historic company on the Italian stone scene, with offices in Rome, Bagnoregio (Viterbo) and Ascoli Piceno. Pellegrino takes over from Federico Fraccaoli to guide an association that in recent years has achieved important goals in terms of representation, consolidating its role as reference organization for the Italian stone/techno-stone sector. The assembly was also called upon to elect the four vice-presidents that will work with Pellegrino until 2026: Francesco Antolini (Antolini Luigi & C. S.p.a.), Nicoletta Caruso (Marmi e Graniti d’Italia Sicilmarmi S.p.a.), Alessandro Ferrari (Tenax S.p.a.) and Flavio Stenico (Steinex S.r.l.).

As corollary to the assembly – which also included a videoconference speech by the Minister of Business and the Made in Italy (MIMIT), Adolfo Urso – there was an interesting panel discussion on “Growth and Internationalization between complexities and new global equilibriums” whose participants were the Director General of ICE-Agency, Lorenzo Galanti, the II Office Head of the General Department for Promotion of Italy, Inc. within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Plenipotentiary Minister Alessandra Pastorelli and the president of VERONAFIERE, Federico Bricolo.
