Again this year an occasion for verifying the results of and strategically planning for the Italian stone and techno-stone sector\u2019s work, the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE<\/strong> General Assembly<\/strong>, held on June 23<\/strong> at the Hotel Enterprise in Milan drew more than 170<\/strong> delegates<\/strong> – businesspeople and stakeholders<\/strong> \u2013 from all over Italy, along with representatives of the main Governmental Agencies and Organizations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The focus of the assembly was President Federico Fraccaoli\u2019s presentation<\/strong> of the main work done by the Association and what is planned for coming months. Flavio Marabelli, Honorary President in charge of Official Relations<\/strong>, instead provided an in-depth look at sector trends worldwide. In 2022 a new record was set for Italian stone exports<\/strong>, which, covering marbles, granites, other ornamental stones and their processing technologies \u2013 reached worth of 3,267 million euros<\/strong> (+8.9% from 2021 and +11.8% from 2019<\/strong>). As Marabelli emphasized, \u201coverall, with more than 3,200 companies and 34,000 employees, revenue of 4.5 billion euros, exports worth 3.2 billion, a great propensity to export<\/strong> (accounting for 71.2% of production) and above all an annual active trade balance of nearly 2.8 billion<\/strong>, the Italian stone\/techno-stone industry was again last year one of Italy\u2019s leading sectors<\/strong>\u201d (for more detail ask for the Sector Statistics Report).<\/p>\n

\u201cOur industry\u2019s horizon has always been the international<\/strong> because our sector has always been capable of imposing its manufacturing excellence, sought after and admired the world over<\/strong>. In fact, we export our products to more than 120 countries\u201d underscored CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE President Federico Fraccaroli<\/strong> in his speech.<\/p>\n

In this regard, with most travel restrictions now lifted, the association has fully returned \u2013 thanks to always significant synergy with the Italian Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry (MAECI) and ICE-Agency \u2013 to its intense promotional work in support of the internationalization of Italian companies in the sector, both by organizing important collective exhibits at the major international tradeshows and by offering a rich program of technical and job training projects in Italy and abroad.<\/p>\n

Among them was the exhibit-event held in May in Algiers, \u201cMARBLE Carving the Future<\/strong>\u201d, sponsored by the MAECI<\/strong> together with CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE<\/strong> and ICE-Agency<\/strong>, an unusual project of integrated promotion for the Italian stone industry based on dialogue between art, technology and enterprise, which over the next two years will travel to various world capitals.<\/p>\n

Convention-goers particularly appreciated the words of Cabinet Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani<\/strong> and of the Minister of Business and the Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso<\/strong>, who remarked on the role CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE<\/strong> plays as the sector\u2019s reference partner<\/strong>, and the close operational synergy existing between it and government organizations<\/strong>. Also speaking at the assembly were the Head of MAECI\u2019s Integrated Italy, Inc. Promotion Office, Embassy Advisor Luca di Gianfrancesco, ICE-Agency President Matteo Zoppas and Veronafiere Presdient Federico Bricolo<\/strong>, who participated in a discussion panel moderated by Honorary President Marabelli titled \u201cItaly, Inc. and Enterprise: an alliance for internationalization and growth<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

During the Assembly delegates were called upon to elect (by secret ballot) members of the General Advisory Board for 2023\/2025. The 20 general representatives elected were: Francesco Antolini (Antolini Luigi & C. Spa) – Davide Bauce (Bauce Bruno & C. Srl) – Luigi Boselli (Diamond Service Srl) – Nicoletta Caruso (MGI Marmi e Graniti d’Italia Srl) – Marco Cavalleri (Omag Spa) – Michele Compri (Abrasivi Adria Srl) – Alessandro Ferrari (Tenax Spa) – Corradino Franzi (Gmm Spa) – Paolo Giacomini (Giacomini Officine Meccaniche Srl) – Arianna Marchetti (Marchetti Tech Srl) – Alessandro Messetti (Gems Srl) – Giovambattista Moncini (Fratelli Moncini Srl) – Giambattista Pedrini (Pedrini Spa) – Elena Pellegrini (Pellegrini Meccanica Spa) – Gianluca Pellegrino (Basaltina Srl) – Carlo Propersi (Cms Spa) – Alessandra Pucci (Prometec Srl) – Carmine Scalas (U.Sa.Di.2 Srl) – Mirko Stangherlin (Simec Spa) – Flavio Stenico (Steinex Srl)<\/strong>. Completing the roster of 2023-25 Advisory Board members were others foreseen by the association\u2019s statute (see the complete organization chart on our website<\/a>).<\/p>\n
