JUNE 10, 2016 IN MILAN

As announced, the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE General Assembly will be held on June 10 at the Hotel Enterprise in Milan. This year the Italian techno-stone association’s annual meeting will feature the theme “Associations 4.0” in the wake of what has been declared the fourth industrial revolution by now underway.

In manufacturing many will have already heard the term Industry 4.0 even if few really know what it means, as shown by the words of an Audi manager who declared: “even if Industry 4.0 is a hot topic right now I wouldn’t know how to tell my kid exactly what it is”. Attempting to briefly describe one of the most tangible aspects of the fourth industrial revolution, Manufacturing 4.0 is the idea of “service-oriented design”. The concept can range from consumers who take advantage of production plant control to make objects themselves to companies who tailor products to individual customers, to production lines run in remote from one continent to another.

Translating this concept into association terms means rethinking an organization that is increasingly one of service, product and market, with representative organizations that must more and more be the “extra partner” that companies lack, the super-specialized one able to follow complex briefings and provide timely responses increasingly tailored to every aspect of the sector. This is what the business people meeting in Milan next June 10 will be thinking about together with all CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE guests from inside and outside the sector.

And the association’s 2016 general assembly will also include important organizational steps such as approving the new statute and electing the president for the 2016-2018 term. Writing a new statute was a response to the need – shared by all the associations in the Confindustria system – to align statute texts to what is foreseen by the recent Pesenti reform that pinpointed precise requisites to be followed by all Confindustria associations.

In terms of governance, the association is called upon to elect as president for the next two years the person that the steering committee chose by a large majority on March 18: outgoing president Stefano Ghirardi who will thus serve a second term at the helm of the reference association for the Italian techno-stone sector.
